Examples of student work (Summer 2013): Contemporary Issues in Art Education
Students in ARTE 504 were required to maintain a digital resource collection, based on a theme each student chose. The goal is to build professional online presence. Requirements for the website included:

- a new series of personal artwork (10 images) based on their chosen theme, with text/reflection about each image;
- five contemporary artists that could connect to the theme, with images, links and description about how each artist's work connects to the theme;
- a unit plan (3 part, 3 media) based on the theme;
- links and summaries of art teacher blogs;
- links and summaries of museum educational sites

Examples of student work (2012 - 2013)
I require students in ARTE 329 to create a digital resource collection, which can provide each student a framework for an online teaching portfolio. Within the digital resource collection, students create tabs for different assignments, including:
Pre-service teachers get experience documenting their work and resources, as well as what it is like to share resources digitally with other educators (adding to the development of their own professional learning networks).
In the ARTS 102 class, I maintain a blog for the class. This is a space to document and share links to the artists we discuss and share student-created work.
All students are over the age of 18, and realize that these sites are public.
- the standards-based interdisciplinary art lesson that they teach to their classmates;
- links and summaries of art teacher blogs;
- links and summaries of museum educational sites;
- images and descriptions of the elements of art visual teaching aid posters they create;
- images taken for a digital scavenger hunt and a description of how this activity could be used in a general elementary classroom.
